OSL Hosts Boot Camp for Oregon DHS

Tuesday, 40 I.T. professionals from the DHS were in attendance to learn what Open Source Software is about and the process of using the software and participating in the development process. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Open Source Software Introduction
  • Economics of OSS
  • OSS Licensing, Philosophies, and Major Projects
  • OSS Project Management
  • OSS Security
  • Community Source Model

Participants walked away with a greater understanding of the drive behind Open Source, and how the Oregon DHS could benefit from developing their necessary software using a Community Source model.
